Originally built for Tennessee’s 1897 Centennial Exposition, this replica of the original Parthenon in Athens serves as a monument to what is considered the pinnacle of classical architecture.
Ross Bryan Associates, Inc., served as the Engineering Consultant for the restoration of the Parthenon.
The restoration process was as follows:
Phase I Restoration (1995 – 1998)
Replace precast concrete in roof tiles, raking cornice, cymas, antefix, and eaves
Replace cast-in-place concrete in Gryphon Plinths and Corona – architectural concrete
Phase II Restoration (1997 – 2000)
Replace/repair precast statuary
Replace cast-in-place concrete
Replace precast elements
Phase III Restoration (2000 – 2001)
Repair cast-in-place architectural concrete on corona, taenia, architrave, triglyph, column capitals, and soffit
