About This Project

RBA provided structural engineering analysis and construction administration for the renovation of the historical Tennessee Theatre, the official state theatre of Tennessee, which was renovated and reopened in early 2005. With its many details and features, the renovation was quite an undertaking. For example, the stage house cantilevered two stories over the street, cost almost $7 million, nearly one-third the total project cost. The cantilever extends the stage depth to 45 feet, nearly doubling the original stage depth, which makes it possible to accommodate large productions. The reconfigured backstage area increased from 2,200-square feet to more than 10,000-square feet. The plush seating has been set in a new layout and will accommodate 1,631 patrons.
