About This Project

RBA provided design services and prepared construction documents for a new two-story baseball field house sited immediately adjacent to the existing memorial gym, football stadium, and left field.

RBA also worked on the addition and renovation of Hawkins Field. This included renovation of the existing field house constructed of reinforced load-bearing masonry walls with a hollowcore floor system and bar joist roof. The existing steel truss roof system over the old swimming pool was modified to create a curved exterior wall. The swimming pool was removed, and a new three-level space was constructed using steel columns, composite steel beams with a composite metal deck, and semi-lightweight concrete floor slabs. The CMU stair elevator towers were designed to resist lateral loads. A pedestrian bridge constructed of steel beams and concrete deck connects the gymnasium with the field house.
