The Hermitage, located about 11 miles east of Nashville, Tennessee, was built by Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, on property he had purchased in 1804. The present mansion was completed in 1836 after a devastating fire in 1834. The home and grounds serve as a living example of Jackson's status as a national leader.
